#Style Me 3 Ways: Polka Dots Top from NY&CO!

With the pandemic still going on, I’m having all kinds fun styling and re-styling different pieces in my closet. Gives me an idea of how I’m going to wear something when we can be social again. I mean, we can be social now, but of course, lots of restrictions.

We’re going to be styling this top that I love from NY & CO three different ways: very girly, somewhat casual, and a wildcard. Gives me an idea of how many times I can get away with wearing the same things. So let’s see what we have!

Very Girly

Give me an excuse to put on a dress or a skirt and I’m there. You may have see this skirt before, but I love it. It literally goes with anything and I can wear it any kind of way. I kept everything simple with the blush pink, to let the top shine.

Casual|Print Mixing

We mixing prints in 2021! I know I’m late to the party, but I always thought that print mixing didn’t look good on me. So here’s to trying new things! Since it was kinda chilly, chose my trusty cardigan also from NY&CO. Not only is this look is cool, but also, comfortable enough to run after Harper!

WildCard

How cute and simple is this look?? You know I never owned a cool leather jacket until now? A simple black and white look can be elevated with just the boots and jacket. Fun fact: I was not a fan of the combat look until last year. I bought these boots just to test the look out to see if I liked it. I must say, I’m a fan.

Amazon The Drop Review: SignedBlake Collection

I recently learned that Amazon collaborates with bloggers and influencers from around the world to create a clothing collection that represents them and their current trend. Its pretty intense because you have 30 hours to shop the collection and once it sells out, its gone.

Recently I had the pleasure of picking a piece from the @SignedBlake collection that was completely out of my comfort zone and decided to style it out of my normal style. Blake is the first black influencer I noticed to have a collection, and not only do I follow her, she is quite the badass. Most of the collections within The Drop are not plus size friendly, so it is definitely enlightening to see she thought of us.

Wanna know what’s funny? I didn’t originally order this piece. I wanted the floral ruffle maxi dress, so im not sure how my order was mixed up. At the time I couldn’t return it because the piece I wanted sold out in my size. After a couple weeks I decided to take it out for a spin and go grunge chic. Yeah, that’s what I’m calling it. I decided to pair it with some combat boots that’s high on trend this season and I belted the dress to give it more shape. Also rolling up the sleeves helps frame the look as well.

How to Look Chic & Modest for Easter!!

Did you notice that Easter is on April Fools this year? And y’all don’t believe that God has a sense of humor? Although Easter is a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you still want to look your best. If you read the story of how Jesus was crucified and then he rose 3 days later, you would want to step into church in your Sundays best too, making the Devil angry. My fiancé thinks I can do no wrong when it comes to how I dress, but I love to dress up and I love to look good. Going to church is no different. So, I figured I’d share a chic yet modest look for Easter.

Something Fun and Photo-Loving…

This Asos dress is absolutely breath-taking. I love the pretty pastel pink with the sequins for added sparkle. I love to look good for and going to church is no different.

It is a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and its okay to look my best. I feel like this dress can be worn in so many ways, not just for Easter, but brunch, engagement parties, etc. You can never go wrong with pastel pink for spring and the A-line silhouette screams darling.

Although Easter happens to be on the first day AND Sunday of April, most churches have communion as well and the women tends to wear white so this dress from Eloquii would be perfect. I get a mature vibe from this piece with the form fitting and the bell sleeves. If you’re looking for a more casual look, try this dress from Asos. The pleats add a relaxed vibe, perfect for praise dancing!

Although there are plenty fashionistas that are like me, wanting to look fashionable for church, a few of my modest tips that I am practicing myself is to make sure that I keep my cleavage covered and to wear my dress at or below my knees. I also shy away from tanks or anything that is not at least a 3/4 length for my sleeves (not for just modesty, but my church tends to get cold!). If I’m wearing a dress that has spaghetti straps, or strapless, I wear a blazer or cardigan.

Now, there may be a few people who will argue that we should “come as we are” and it shouldn’t matter how we dress, the truth is, it matters how you dress. For me, being fashionable is fun! Also, dress for location of the occasion.

Fuschia in the Winter

In the Winter, because the days can get dreary and dark, I love to brighten my day with something bright. For those who are trying to add more color in their wardrobe, but insist of wearing black, try a bright colored blazer. I found this baby on JustFab (of course!) during one of their huge 60% off sales earlier this month. This velvet, fun blazer has some stretch to it so in my case sizing down to a 2x would have been perfect. Nonetheless, us gals can make it work, right?

A few cons about this blazer, includes no structure. most blazers have inseams that creates a solid structure to the jacket providing the body some extra help with shaping. It mostly reminds me of a cardigan with a blazer feel to it. This is to help if you’re looking for a blazer with an actual shape to it. Because the color is so vibrant and beautiful, I was determined to make it work with an all black look. I paired the jacket with an all black fitted dress from CatoFashions and these lovely comfy booties are from JustFab!

Feel free to wear this with a pair of skinny jeans or a fitted sweater dress. Because it is a velvet material, the jacket is very warm!

Striped Madness

There’s something about blue and white stripes. Anyone can rock it. I’ve seen this dress on a few bloggers from other sites and I went crazy. Every website I visited, they were sold out! So, I was browsing on Forever 21 and saw the exact dress. Sadly, it’s sold out.

I call this my end of summer dress. The high low will allow a little breeze to come in to keep you cool, plus the “party in the front, business in the back” deal. One thing about this dress is the sleeves. It is very tight on the upper arms and I’m wearing a 3x. I’ve read that women will up their size because of the arms, but 3x is the highest size that is accommodated. Don’t expect to be completely flexible in this dress, meaning, wear this dress when you don’t have to do too much movement. Other than that, this dress is neat and unlike anything I have.

As far as accessories go, you can pair this with anything. I added a light brown block heel, but you can add sandals (maybe with Pom poms), minimalistic heel, wedges, or a colorful sandal.

As you can see, my arms do look a tab uncomfortable but, beauty is pain right? No. I’ll probably wear this a few more times before it annoys me, but it amazes me how us women will go through a little discomfort for the sake of fashion, right?

If you have slight larger arms than me, this may not work for you, unless you’re willing to compromise. With that being said, stay tuned for more on my stripe obsession!
