Amazon the Drop Review: Highlowluxxe Collection

I found Jenee’ (check out her blog here!)on Instagram through her styling her clothing racks. They were so well put together, coordinated and themed perfectly. Then I got to know her a little bit through social media and realized at the time, she had a full-time career at Target (I used to work there too!) and she was blogging on the side. Sis was dressing well, looking well, and I’m pretty sure smelling well, making affordable items look all luxurious.

Now, she is one of the few that I enjoy following when it comes to all thing luxe. I mean I can’t afford it, but she is a reminder that I can have nicer things if I choose to. So when she partnered with Amazon to create a beautiful luxury collection, I was stalking the drop like clockwork! I wish I got everything but I settled on the cream wrap dress, the cream set, and the black mini dress. Let’s talk about my favorite dresses.

I don’t see myself giving this dress away. Mini dresses are here to stay and with this one so well made, I can wear this every fall/winter season. Its very versatile and you can wear it with pretty much anything, including tights.

Okay this has to be my favorite drop. A true wrap dress is so timeless and it will never go out of style. My favorite feature about this dress is how thick and well made it is. It is not flimsy or “trendy feeling” . For those with a modest lifestyle, this dress is perfect as it is tasteful in the length and cleavage area.

stay tuned for my next review!

“Fall In Love” Series: Styling Eloquii Elements Pt. 1

When I discovered Eloquii years ago, I was bittersweet. I was so excited to find a plus size brand that sold trendy, chic items but bitter because I could not afford it at the time. Now that I am blessed to be able to, about 85% of my wardrobe is of this brand. They also have the best sales! Not too long ago, Eloquii partnered with Walmart on an Elements collection focusing on everyday fashion at modest prices. What I love about this line is even though the prices are significantly lower than other pieces on the site, the quality is still there. When I saw the release, I rushed to Walmart.com, where I saw it first and picked up a few things.

This peplum jacket can be worn many ways, but I opted to wear it as a jacket in a casual manner! I went a size up in case I decide to wear it as a shirt and what I love about this outfit is that no only is it comfortable and warm, it is easy to chase my one year old!

Even though the next two tops are long sleeved, they are so comfy. Florals have always been my thing since I was a young teenager. You can get the floral top here.

Who doesn’t love animal print? Even though I’m wearing this leopard top in a casual manner, it is still versatile and can be worn dressy, not to mention animal prints are neutral

Check out their entire collection at Eloquii.com or you can even visit Walmart’s site here.

Stay tuned for part 2!

Summer Romance

This year, I’ve been feeling the pretty pastels and soft florals. I love how feminine and girly they are and I notice that I’ve been filling my closet with such. In my humble opinion, florals and pastels are a good way to get in touch with your girly side! I remember growing up, florals were my favorite pattern, (the tasteful patterns I might add) and I would be teased about it. But that didn’t stop me not one bit! My blankets, dresses, sweaters were floral.

So when I saw this dress from Torrid a couple months ago, I fell in love with it. But I wasn’t interested in paying full price for it. Let’s face it, Torrid is a little overpriced especially when I would find loose threads from brand new pieces. I walked away because $90 for a dress was too much for me. So, I went back a month or so later and still saw it there. Still full price. Still pretty. I decided to grab it. Yup. Full price and no coupon. But let me tell you, it was one of the best full price purchases I made.

I absolutely love this dress! I purchased this in a 3x (my Torrid size) and it fits perfectly! Can we talk about this? I’ve never been one to wear halter style dresses but the fit on this dress is superb. This dress is darling, and not a thread out of place. It is very lightweight with the tiered ruffles going on. This dress has the high-low effect but its too exaggerating. With a white cardigan or light pink one,  I can wear this to church with a nude pair or heels, or date night with some comfy sandals.

I love how it cinches above the waist and it camouflages everything giving a very feminine silhouette.

The best thing about this dress, is that it will last for several spring/summer seasons to come. The print, the style and colors, are here to stay, so I will definitely get my price per wear out of this. I wore this dress this past Sunday with my bright pink block heels from Forever 21 that you’ve seen several times and my matching Kate Spade purse. If you want a more romantic, subtle look, a pair of nude heels and a rose colored crossbody/clutch does the trick as well.

If you’re looking to spend more money than you would on a piece of clothing, make sure you can wear it next year and not stuffed in the back of your closet.

Spring Series: Style Me 3 Ways: Striped Jumpsuit

Since spring is now one of my favorite seasons, I decided to start a few fashion series about my newfound love for this season. You’re probably thinking, “you didn’t like spring?” No, I didn’t. I was never confident in how I looked and I always kept covered. I’ll talk about how I overcame that in another blog post.

Fast forward and I’m embracing spring and the fashion trends to go with it. In today’s post, I style one of my favorite things to wear not only in the spring, but year round, the beloved jumpsuit. Or, an “adult onesie” as some people put it. I got this jumpsuit from Burlington and I was impressed at how the store has changed over the years because I could never find anything worth buying. I will be going back pretty soon. Although this jumpsuit is not 100% great quality, I love how comfortable the fit is and I adore the cropped wide leg look.

Corporate Spunk

I put this outfit together using things I already had in my closet, and I call this my corporate casual look. Yes, this jumpsuit can be worn to the office, just by adding a dope white crisp blazer and some comfortable heels. And you know, florals and stripes pair beautifully. To add more of a pop, I paired this outfit with my bright sunny yellow Michael Kors crossbody bag.

Nautical Look

This next look is going out my normal look because I’m not a sneaker person. When I saw blue, I immediately thought of red and white. Some people will think the American Flag, I just think more of a nautical look. So i kept it simple by pulling out my classic Converse sneakers. I’m digging this look and to add some flair, I grabbed my red Kate Spade crossbody. If you don’t know, crossbody bags are my favorite. Plus, you can never go wrong with a bold red lip. And yes, the rain had the nerve to come while we were shooting.

Comfy, Casual

So my last look, is just a complete casual look. This can be worn if I’m shopping with the girls (or even my husband), or just if you want to be casual and not sacrifice style. My trusty Tory Burch sandals (that I had for 2 years!) and my sunny Michael Kors bag did the trick for comfort and stylish.

You see my hair?? Check out my last post on my update!

If you’re on budget like I am, its best to find pieces that you can create multiple looks from and still be stylish for this season. I think I just created a “Restyle Me” series.

Pink And A Pop Of Denim

Sometimes, I surprise myself with how bright colors look on me. To me, you have the best mood wearing bright colors and that’s how I feel wearing this pretty fuchsia dress. It is so bright and comfortable and I love the detail on the sleeves. What I love about this dress is the endless styling options you can do. You can wear heels, flats, or sandals. Instead of going the usual, black, white or nude color pallet, I wanted to do something different.

Yes. I. Did. I slid on these pretty adorable embellished denim flats and pointy toe flats are a fav of mine. I know I leave links to everything you can buy, but this dress is sold out (came from Cato) and my shoes came from Marshall’s a couple years ago. Don’t fret, bright colors are everywhere.

You’ve seen this crossbody before, of course from Kate Spade, but these earrings! Let me tell you. I was in Target looking for a birthday gift for my aunt, and I saw these gorgeous earrings for $4! I was worried that they might be too heavy, but they are not. And look, it matches my bag.

This post is dedicated to my sister in law, because she knows I love color and she’s also hired me to revamp her entire wardrobe from darks and neutrals to vibrant colors and amazing prints, thus the birth of Styled by Marisa, a personal styling service where I assist on styling services of course for all occasions. Yup, stay tuned for the official launch!
