Funday Sunday

I’ve been living in Charlotte for about a year and a half and I am just starting to explore the city. Crazy, right? When I first moved here, I accepted a new job, and was also exposed to public transportation. I did not have a car and I wasn’t planning on buying one for the first two years here. I really wanted to save. Still learning how to do that buy the way, lol! Now that Benjamin is here, he has a car and we have the opportunity to explore! We decided to go to this Boardwalk area in in the University area. In the photos behind me, there is a lake where you can take a boat ride, playground, a walking trail, and several restaurants! Its just a nice place to come, relax and even clown around and take pictures!

I kept it real casual on this funday sunday! I found these ripped white boyfriend jeans from Cato Fashions for $14! To me, that’s a steal! I paired it with his peplum top from Old Navy and I snagged this bag from Express for $8! Target sandals are a couple years old, and I’m so excited that they are still going!

Electric Blue

Have you ever looked in your closet and saw things that you bought a couple years ago that still had the tags on it? Have you asked yourself, why is there still a tag on it, and why haven’t I worn this? I know I’m not alone. Those questions ran through my mind when I saw this dress. I purchased this dress from Cato Fashions (click on the link and you will find more goodies) for about $13 with no intentions to wear at the time. Fast forward a couple years later, and I wore this on a Sunday out with Benjamin. We went to church and then had brunch at The Cheesecake Factory! Their mimosas are fresh and crisp and their Belgian waffle is to die for!! You have to get it with all the fixins! I was so self conscious about my body that I didn’t think that I could pull it off (always self conscious about my tummy area)! I found confidence somewhere and felt great about how I look that I decided to wear it!  If you have anything in your closet that you are just itching to wear, pull it out and put it on!!

Summer Lookbook: Target Sandal styled 5 ways

Summer is here, and it is hot! Vacations, BBQ’s, picnics, fireworks, swimming are all going down this time of year! I’m here to show you how I put together 5 summer outfits styled by one pair of sandals. That’s right! ONE pair of shoes! You may be going on a trip and you don’t have much room for shoes, or you’re hesitant about how one pair of sandals might look on each outfit you wear. Any fashionista can tell you, that one pair of shoes can go with anything. The sandals I have on are from Target a couple seasons ago, but you can find any simple black sandal! You may already have a pair!

This first outfit screams comfy and chic. I’m all about bargain when it comes to shopping but I like to splurge every now and then! I found these pants from my local Rugged Wearhouse for $7.99! Don’t sleep on this store because you can find some gems! Don’t get me wrong, you can find these types of pants anywhere! I kept this look minimal with a white tank top and my Kate Spade crossbody bag because I want the pants to be the statement piece.

Jumpsuit Frenzy

I never thought I’d see the day that I would wear a jumpsuit and have the confidence as this girl in the photo below! I’ve seen so many plus size beauties rock a jumpsuit and I wanted to too! Jumpsuits are your one stop shop to a full outfit in just minutes. All you need are accessories. So I found this one at Old Navy and I am in love!! ! I am wearing an XXL and I feel like a million bucks!. For me, going up a side helps me because I am able to be comfortable. I am wearing the same sandals and the Kate Spade cross body bag.

Romper Sexy

Let me tell you something, I have a newfound love for a jumpsuit and a romper! I don’t know what possessed me to buy them, but I am glad I did. I bought this from the Plus Size area in Forever 21 in a size 3x. I love the comfort and the flowy arms. Even though its around 100 degrees here in Charlotte, this piece is still airy and cool. What I also love about this romper is that it covers my entire bum!  I was having a little too much fun with the photographer (my boyfriend)!

Flowy Maxi

Don’t laugh at me, but I’ve had this skirt for about 4 years. Its a black, pleated flowy maxi and leg only see through. Don’t worry, the bum is completely covered. I bought this from a store called Roses for $10! I never thought something like this would last! I paired this skirt with a muscle tank from Forever 21! Look at the cute puppy! I wanted to bring a pop of color to this outfit so I ditched my black Kate Spade purse for a red one! Now it matches my lip! A slight windy day would require a lot of picture taking because the dress just blows perfectly!

It took me years to be okay with the idea of leggings, haram pants, or even joggers. I just didn’t think they would look good on me! This year is a year of firsts when it comes to exploring fashion as a plus size woman. I paired these joggers from Forever 21 (super old) with a black flowy shirt from Old Navy! I even kept the pop of color theme for this outfit as well. Who doesn’t like red and leopard together?

What are your favorite summer sandal and how do you like to style them?

Body Care for Less at ROSS!

I love shopping. I love to try new things. What I love most, is a great bargain. Have you ever been to your local Ross store and browse in the beauty section? Sometimes you will find products from brands you never heard of before and you will find familiar brands. Either way, you get a chance to experiment some products and you wouldn’t have to break the bank. Take a look at these SheaMoisture items!

20160605_141322 After my big chop, I started to experiment with different natural hair products and SheaMoisture was the first brand that caught my attention. Every time I blink my eyes this company is coming out with a new line. Although it is not the most expensive brand I came across, when buying in bulk, it can get expensive, especially if there aren’t any sales. I stumbled upon these five products and couldn’t believe my eyes. Full size products that you would normally see in Target or Walmart and I found them at Ross for much less. Let’s compare:

Baotein Precious Oils Complex Vibrant Color Conditioner from the Natural Pro Color Care Line: Retail Price: 19.99 Ross: $7.99

Kareavega Monoi Oil Complex Smooth Finish Shampoo  from the Natural Pro Keratin Care Line: Retail Price: $19.99 Ross: $7.99

Cocoshea Biolipid Complex Gentle Curl-Cleansing Co-Wash from the Natural Pro Curl Care Line: Retail Price: $19,99 Ross: $7.99

Coconut & Hibiscus Hand and Body Scrub: Retail $9.99 Ross: $5.99

Lavender & Wild Orchid Hand and Body Scrub: Retail: $9.99 Ross: $5.99

Now, these last two items I saw were the icing on the cake. I’ve seen this brand everywhere and heard great reviews but when I saw the price, I kept holding it off. What if I didn’t like the brand and I just wasted all this money? I even tried to see if Amazon had it for the low, but I saw the Body Wash for $13.42 and the Crème for $19.99. When I found them at Ross, the Crème was $3.99 and the Body Wash was $4.49

So visit your local Ross Store and check out the beauty section! There is always something worth trying! You never know. Happy Saving!

Natural Hair: Flat Twist Out on Blown out Hair

Today’s style is all about a flat twist out. There are so many ways to achieve this look. You can do this on wet, damp, or dry hair. The key to this style is making sure your hair is moisturized and detangled. I started on freshly cleansed hair. I wanted to work with dry stretched hair because I did not want the excess shrinkage. The picture below is my achieved results.

Blow Out Process: I’m using an Andis  blow dryer that has the comb attatchment (unfortunately, it broke.) that I found at Walmart for around $25. In order for me to get that stretched look, I had to hold my hair taut and run the dryer up and down until stretched and dried. I then took a wide tooth comb at the end to make sure my hair was stretched to its max.

Twist Process: I decided to go for medium to large sections for a wavy look and I used the Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai twisting butter. I felt like my hair need a little more moisture so I sprinkled a VERY LITTLE water/olive oil mix. Seriously, it was so little, I don’t know why I used it, lol!

Below is my process on how I achieved this look and I was very pleased with the results. My hair was super soft and the definition was incredible. The one thing I learned about the Camille Rose Naturals Line is that my hair is always moisturized and styles are defined and shiny.
