I found Jenee’ (check out her blog here!)on Instagram through her styling her clothing racks. They were so well put together, coordinated and themed perfectly. Then I got to know her a little bit through social media and realized at the time, she had a full-time career at Target (I used to work there too!) and she was blogging on the side. Sis was dressing well, looking well, and I’m pretty sure smelling well, making affordable items look all luxurious.
Now, she is one of the few that I enjoy following when it comes to all thing luxe. I mean I can’t afford it, but she is a reminder that I can have nicer things if I choose to. So when she partnered with Amazon to create a beautiful luxury collection, I was stalking the drop like clockwork! I wish I got everything but I settled on the cream wrap dress, the cream set, and the black mini dress. Let’s talk about my favorite dresses.
I don’t see myself giving this dress away. Mini dresses are here to stay and with this one so well made, I can wear this every fall/winter season. Its very versatile and you can wear it with pretty much anything, including tights.
Okay this has to be my favorite drop. A true wrap dress is so timeless and it will never go out of style. My favorite feature about this dress is how thick and well made it is. It is not flimsy or “trendy feeling” . For those with a modest lifestyle, this dress is perfect as it is tasteful in the length and cleavage area.
So a few months ago, I was strolling through Instagram and saw these videos and posts on “spring twists” and how they remind me of a natural version of kinky twists back during my high school days. However, the twists look identical to your natural hair when in mini twists, with hair that looks like natural hair. I thought, this is cute! When I first went natural, I lived in mini twists and although it was a great protective style, I wanted a fuller look. So, me being the detective that I am, I’m gonna research before I ask, because beauty and fashion gurus tend to posts the things they love or use and links if they’re really nice. For some reason, this chick didn’t. It was like, you can either buy the hair from me or pay me to do it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for charging what your worth, but there are people in this world that can do their own hair. As someone whose been doing their own hair for over 20 years, I started hunting! I looked on Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram hashtags only to find that this hair can be purchased not only from hair boutiques, but from Amazon. Yes! Amazon. I know Amazon can be a hit and miss with hair but I read reviews and saw photos and videos enough for me to purchase it.
As you can see, this brand has a 4.5 star rating! It comes in several colors and you can get yours right here. I purchased the 3 pack spring twist crochet hair in the color T1B27. And I ordered two packs. The brand is Beyond Beauty and they are $23.50 for each 3 pack. I bought two to be on the safe side.
Deets on the hair:
This is my first time buying from this brand and on amazon and this won’t be the last. I love this hair. It comes twisted so you can either crochet or do singles. I wanted to try color so I opted for an ombre effect, which I love. The hair is so springy and soft and can be easily separated. It has minimal shedding and doesn’t frizz or get tangled if you use water or hair products.
This hair blends perfectly with mine and IT DOES NOT ITCH! I normally soak all my hair in Apple Cider Vinegar/ water/ shampoo, but I didn’t have to for this and I have a sensitive scalp.

I was able to use half of one bundle for the back because I separated the hair into two or three sections. When I realized that I would have more than enough and possibly leftover for another round, I use the whole pieces and realized that I only use an extra pack and three pieces from the 3rd pack. I decided to cut pieces in half to frame my face for a layer effect. I am very pleased with this hair and I hope you try it to. You can easily get away with just one pack. I will say, they are rather pricey (about $8/bundle) but it is worth every penny! You can also use this hair on your children!
The weather is changing and fall is coming guys, so tell me why I can’t find anything plain and basic in my closet? During the transition period, I like to keep it simple sometimes and I also learned that basic pieces can not only help with transitioning summer to fall but can really put together a fall look too. But I was upset that I only had bright, colors, elevated patterns, funky textures, etc in my closet, I couldn’t make those look plain if I wanted to. If you’re anything like me,you need some basic pieces in your closets. So here’s what I’m shopping for this month.
Dark/Denim Jeans: I barely wear pants, let alone jeans, so I decided to indulge in the Girl With Curves x Lane Bryant collection and ordered the high waist skinny pant in black. They are so sexy looking and very versatile! In my opinion, they are the epitome of basic because they can be worn with anything.
Pleated Skirt-Although the pleated skirt trend is one of the trends this year, it can very well be a basic as it can pair with several things. I can see this worn with blouses, sweatshirts, and T-shirt’s. You can add flats, heels, or booties. This is one of my favorite colors for fall and if you like this skirt, get it here.
Light sweaters/Tee-shirts- I’ve noticed that I love to wear plain tees or plain shirts instead of tops that are full of ruffles, prints and etc, during transition, and Old Navy has my favorite tee shirts. These are also a great layering piece for when the days get colder. Layering will forever be style to emulate so its great to have light clothing.
Boyfriend Cardigan: I love cardigans to fit oversized. Pair it with skinny jeans and plain tee and some heels or booties, and I’m good here. If you’re feeling body conscious on crazy days, they are a great item to have. This cardigan is in my cart right now, and it also comes in a soft white color and it just LOOKS comfy and soft. Get yours here.
Casual Sneakers
Fun fact: I have ONE pair of sneakers and they are worn out and I only wear them when I’m out walking. It’s a shame that I’m not a sneakerhead, and I haven’t been since 6th grade but I do plan to switch up a little bit when I want to be casual. ASOS has several Adidas that I have my eye on right now.
Other basics you can include in your closet are booties and JustFab will forever be my favorite place to find them. They come in various styles, heel height and colors. They have yet to grasp the rider boots for real plus size legs. For that, Torrid will be my #1 place for rider boots because their boots really fit a plus size leg and I appreciate that. Of course you have your trusty scarves that can be worn various ways. For me, I wear them as a turban on bad hair days, or even days when I don’t want my hair exposed to the weather.
What are some basics that you’re picking up for fall?
Although there are a few more warmer days before there are cooler days, I definitely wanted to share my favorite spring/summer dresses I wore this season. Between the florals and fun summer colors to a princess gown for a day, I thoroughly enjoyed my wardrobe! Let’s see who made the cut.
Halter Maxi
So I wanted to start with my FAVORITE dress of this season, ok? I was talking to my husband, and I told him that it really bothered me that I couldn’t find a real maxi dress that complimented my body. I wanted something flattering and super long that covers my feet even when I’m wearing heels. Guys, I found this dress on Amazon when I tested out their Prime Wardrobe. I never have much success when it comes to plus size clothing, so I tried this service. I love the tiered style with the little pom poms on it and I received so many compliments on this dress. Although I did return it, I will be purchasing it for next year. Yes this dress is quite pricey, but the dress is great quality. Its 100% cotton, beautifully lined so it won’t show all your goodies, and very comfortable. I did manage to find an affordable one on Shein for a fraction of the price here. It is very similar to the Eliza J brand I wore, but you will probably get one season out of this.
Romantic Florals
You guys have seen this dress on the blog, but I’m bringing it back! I loved this dress so much I paid full price for it. I’m starting to notice a tiered silhouette going on like the last dress, but this is the girliest dress I’ve ever seen. My husband was like, yeah that dress is you. And let me tell you, this dress is on sale here. I see myself wearing this dress for the next few seasons, and a little secret guys…I’ve purchased plenty items from Torrid and they last for a good while. I’ve worn this dress to church with a cardigan, but you can wear this dress anywhere.
Lace
Shoes: Nine West, Handbag: CatoFashions
Blue is my favorite color so this dress was already a fav. I was looking for ways to improve my church wardrobe and this was another dress I tried in the Amazon wardrobe trial. Now I have to purchase it because it is lovely. This is such a chic and modest dress and I love how ladylike it is. Church is not the only place you can wear this dress, but anywhere. This dress is also true to size. Get yours here.
Calvin Klein?
I know I’m super late to the game, but I never fully grasped the fact that Calvin Klein makes plus size clothing. I would see them, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it because some brands sizes are not a true to size. Again, another Amazon Wardrobe try-on success, this maxi dress is awesome. I was afraid that the top would be too thin and revealing, but you couldn’t see a thing. It’s a light, flowy dress that doesn’t stick to you. I wore this to a baby shower with a bold red lip.
As you know, I can always count on Old Navy to supply me with dresses that are casual and great for traveling. I wore this dress constantly and I love how this color complimented my skin. I love how the straps were adjustable but, in order for me to be comfortable, I crossed my straps to prevent them from falling.
Dresses are my favorite thing to wear aside from rompers and jumpsuits because it is a complete look in itself. Just find the right accessories and you’re good!
But the best dress…
You already know. You already know! My wedding gown! The best spring dress for 2018! If you want to see a dedicated post about my wedding attire, read about it here. I talk , about the brand and the amazing level of comfort, but let’s take another look and appreciate the beauty.
What are your favorite dresses that your wore for spring/summer?
Hello! I hope this blog post finds you well today. I thank God for beautiful weather today. What are you thankful for today?
Lately, I’ve been hopping into Burlington more times than usual and this store impresses more than when it used to be Burlington Coat Factory. I was never a fan of the store back then and I felt like there wasn’t anything for me. Today, I have this store placed with the likes of Ross, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. My husband seems to like it as well, so that’s a plus.
This season, I’m all about comfort and trying to stay cool because the sun just makes you not want to put on too many clothes and then you don’t want the clothes to stick to your body. I was supposed to be looking for bathroom decor items and baby stuff (I’m gonna be an auntie, to a niece), when i found myself in the plus section and y’all….I found this really cool off the shoulder nautical dress.
How cute and comfy this dress is? I love the embroidery detail on the sleeve that compliments my tassel hoop earrings that I also found from Burlington for only $2.99. The only drawback about these earrings is the tassels couldn’t stay straight, but I enjoyed my husband correcting them.
There’s no wrong way to wear this dress, ok? You can pair sandals, white sneakers, and for me, you know I trust my Tory Burch sandals to go with anything. They also add a sense of elevation to the outfit as well.
See what I mean about my earrings? Lol
I forgot to mention, this dress was only $14.99. Although the chambray with the nautical blue and white stripes are not going out of style any time soon, I can rest easy knowing that I didn’t have to break the bank to look fashionable. Check out your local Burlington and see if you find any gems.
